Rounding up the final Download coverage I had a chat with Niclas before their show on the main stage.
Returning back from their moody Siren Charms last year, In Flames kicked off a brand new cycle in their career with Battles. In a far more positive state of mind the band headed out to Califorinia to record with esteemed producer Howard Benson.
Responsible for the likes of My Chemical Romance‘s super smash Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, the man is a slightly different approach to the likes of what we might have been used to in the Clayman era of In Flames but the band aren’t the same anymore. With one Niclas Englin being a new string to the bands bow, I was very lucky to be able to have a chat with the man at this year’s Download.
Discussing among other things the bands new album Battles I found out some of the man’s inspirations behind him wanting to play guitar and some interesting facts about Swedish youth centres!
In Flames’ brand new album is out now via Nuclear Blast.
