Not quite reaching Tool levels of creative cryo-stasis Dimmu Borgir weren’t far off. Having previously released their 2010 effort Abrahadabra, the band had since quietened down, seldom touring. Unbeknownst to us the band had actually begun the writing process for their next full length Eonian in the year 2012.
Slowly but surely tinkering and amending, Dimmu Borgir were putting finishing touches on the record that would become Eonian. Fast forward to 2018 and the band announced that they were at long last ready to birth this giant. Beginning with single “Interdimensional Summit” fans had reservations about the new record, believing that it could well be slightly too much towards the Symphonic side of Metal, nevertheless the band proved fans wrong with their brand new effort being potentially not only their most cinematic to date but perhaps their most expansive to date.
